Pacelli Catholic Schools is a place full of events, activites, and active learning. Parent and family volunteers are an essential part to our school and help make it the exceptional place it is. We offer many opportunities for families to become active and participate in school life during the day, in the evenings, or on weekends.
Just like within our student community, our parents and families possess a wide variety of talents and skills which can benefit the entire Pacelli family. There are always opportunities for parents and family members to utilize those gifts and to enhance school life for their own student(s) and everyone at Pacelli. We have several events and classroom activities throughout the school year where volunteer time and talents are needed and much appreciated.
Service is one of the three pillars of Pacelli along with Faith and Scholarship and it's an integral part of the culture for our students. It is invaluable the standards you can set for your student(s) and the role model you can be for all when you give your time and talents as a volunteer.
If you'd like to get more involved, meet new families and friends, and give of your talents and time, please consider volunteering for one of our events or in your child's classroom!
To begin the process, please continue reading below to learn about becoming a volunteer.
It is the policy of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester and of Pacelli Catholic Schools to screen all volunteers for their suitability to work with children in an educational setting and ask them to meet any and all requirements of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester. The Dioceses require all staff and volunteers at all parishes, schools, and religious education programs to undergo a background check and to participate in a child safety program called VIRTUS.
These requirements are not about not trusting you, and certainly not about making it difficult for you to volunteer at school. They are about being vigilant together about the safety and well-being of our children.
VIRTUS is designed to teach us about the ways abusers gain access to children (manipulating not only children but families and communities as well), heighten our awareness of signs of abuse, and alert us to situations that are potentially dangerous for our children. We encourage ALL parents/guardians to participate in VIRTUS training and will offer training sessions periodically. Those who wish to volunteer at school or school events are required to participate. VIRTUS training sessions will be offered during the school year.
Training dates can be found at www.virtusonline.org select Registration / View a List of Sessions / Winona-Rochester, MN (Diocese).

The child protection background check, the Volunteer Code of Conduct form, and Virtus training certificate must be on file in the Front Office prior to volunteering. Background checks are $10/piece.
